Nationals Race Format:

All TCS races in the 2011 series will be 4 race rounds. Instead of 2 or 3 qualifiers and a Main, we will be running a point system. We will be taking each racers best 3 rounds out of the 4.

All races will be a heads up race format. After each complete round every racer will be ranked based on a Qualification-points system. Racers! Keep this in mind: The following Qualifying-points system does not have throw-outs. While your best 3 rounds rank your finishing position in the field, ties are settled by using all rounds depending on how far the tie goes between racers. Do not think of this system as having throw-outs, it definitely does not. Every round could count to some degree.

 - Points will be rewarded in the following order for each round. Winner gets zero points, second place gets two points, third place gets three points, etc.., increasing by one point per position.
 - The race results order will be determined by the sum of each driver’s best two rounds.
 - First level ties will be broken by the drivers’ third best round points. Second level ties will be broken by the driver’s fourth best round points. If ties still exist, once all round points have been used, then ties will be broken by the sum of the laps/time results of the tied drivers’ best two point rounds. Thereafter if ties still exist, these will be broken by the best single laps/time result for each driver, regardless of the round in which it was recorded.
 - In cases where only two rounds of Qualifying could be completed, the final Qualifying order is based on the single best points, with points from the second best round being used as the first level tie breaker, and the total laps/time for the two rounds being used as the second level tie breaker.

Racer Re-Sort:

There will be a racer re-sort after the first round. After the racer re-sort you will grid your car according to how you qualified among your peers in your first round.

Turn Marshalling:

All racers are required to marshal the race immediately after their race. Your car and transmitter must be returned to Tech after your run and you must head out onto the circuit for marshalling duties. If you are unable to perform marshalling YOU MUST get a substitute person to marshal. When marshalling remember to watch your area of track and not the race! You want to marshal the way you would want to be marshalled.

Transponders:

Personal transponders are a must for the 2011Canadian Nationals

Driver's Stand Position:

Drivers position is on a 1st come basis for the 1st round. After the first round is run, if a racer wants to swap positions between themselves it is allowed, but higher qualified drivers in a heat race receive preference.

Classes:

The Nationals, like in all pervious years is an invite only. You must qualify to attend (see above). New for 2011 drivers may only enter two-race categories maximum. You may qualify in as many classes as you like, however you must select only two for the Canadian Nationals. Tarmac Buggy can be run as a 3rd class.  A minimum of 10 cars must be confirmed by August 3rd for the class to be run at the Nationals.

Tech Procedures:

All cars must go through tech before you run your race. After your car has passed tech it may not leave the Tech area. You or your Pit person must remain with the car in the tech area until your round begins.

If your car needs to return to the pits for whatever reason you must go through tech again. It is up to you to arrive at Tech a full heat race in advance. It is also up to you to be on time. We will be running a "tight on time schedule" and we will not be giving grace periods due to any of your circumstances. If your car passes tech once and we missed something shame on us. If we catch an infraction the next time, don’t give the tech guys a hard time. Shame on you!

Tech will look for the following things:

 - Cars meet the class rules and requirements
 - Spec Motor
 - Spec Battery (REEDY WOLFPACK 7.4V 3000MAH 25C Part#730 and REEDY 2400 7.4V STICK PACK part #713 are the spec batteries )

GT2, Mini Sports and Formula 1 class drivers will have to go through 2 tech procedures. This is due to “Motor Install”. Don’t be late you must install your Handout motor before your race IN THE TECH AREA! Bring your car, pinion gear and tools to Tech where you will receive a motor that you will install there. After your race drive your car to Tech and proceed to Marshall the next race. Then return to Tech, uninstall your motor and take your car back to your pit area.

GT2, Mini Sports, FDT Spec Motor Tech Procedures and Rules:

You will not be able to practice with your spec handout motor. This is our way of providing a level playing field for all. GT2, Mini Sports, and FDT drivers must be in tech 2 heats before they are up to race!
 - The Spec motor must always remain in tech after qualifying and racing
 - The stock bullet connectors and wires must remain on the motor. You may use any female bullet connector on your Speed Control.
 - The stock wire may not be shortened or replaced in any way.
 - Adding a Shockty Diode is permitted, but you will have to add it to your speed control wires and not directly to the motor.
 - Comm Drops or any kind of additives is strictly prohibited.
 - Bushing oil will be added by the TECH officials. You will not be permitted to bring your own.
 - Do not bring motor spray to TECH.
 - After your qualifying heat you must bring your car to Post Tech and it must remain there until you’re finished turn marshalling.
 - After marshalling you must remove your motor from your car. The motor will remain in TECH at all times. A tech official will oversee this process.
 - In every round you will receive a different motor from the motor pool. This is done to eliminate the lucky or unlucky motor syndrome.

Top 3 Tech Teardown:

The top 3 cars overall will be torn down to make sure their cars, motors and batteries have fully met the rules and regulations

2011 Weather Proceedure

For the 2011 Tamiya Championship series we have put in place an operations procedure in the events of bad weather. Since the start of the TCS, it has been a rain or shine event. We will continue that tradition and run in the rain and just like in years past, we will only stop the race if standing water starts to form on the circuit or lighting storms.

If it’s raining the morning of we may delay the start of the event to try and get dry track conditions. Remember weather can vary from area to area. Please be prepared to go, once track conditions are ok. To score the event we must at least get 1 complete round of racing in.

How Finishes Will Be Determined Based On Amount Of Rounds Completed:

1 Round completed: This will be based off the finishing order of the completed round.

2 Rounds completed: This will be based off best round out of 2.

3 Rounds completed: This will be based off best 2 rounds out of 3.

4 Rounds completed: This means everything went to plan

Race Format

All radio control car-racing hobbyists are welcome to join the series. Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned racing hobbyist we invite you to partake in the Tamiya Championship Series where fun and good competitive racing is our top priority.

Race & Drivers Guide:

2011 marks the 13th year of Tamiya Championship Series in Canada. This guide will give important information regarding the race series and its procedures. This will also state the information about this year’s 2011 Nationals!

Classes for 2011: Mini Sports, FDT (FF03), GT-1, F-1, Tarmac Buggy (outdoor events only) and GT2

Top 5 finishers in each class, at the end of each round during the series will qualify for the 2011 Nationals Championships. Once you have qualified for a class, should you race again at a future TCS and finish in the Top 5, your name will be skipped and given to next placed finisher. However you will still earn the trophy for that TCS event.

The above will also be the qualifying class order run in each TCS qualifier and the national championship in 2011.

All events will be one-day races with an open practice run in the morning before the event. Some host sites may set-up or open the track to TCS racers the day/night before, this is not part of the TCS event.

Tracks will open at 8:30am (unless marked differently on a entry form). Racing will start at 9:30am

Race Format:

All TCS races in the 2011 series will be either a 3 or 4 race rounds (Similar to the way the 2009 Nationals were run). Instead of 2 or 3 qualifiers and a Main, we will be running a point system. For the Nationals we will be running 4 race rounds, but during the regular qualifying races due to time the rounds maybe cut from a scheduled 4 to 3 with two rounds counting in either amount of total rounds.

All racers in a heat (10 racers in a heat qualifier) will be on track in a heads up race. After each complete round of qualifying every racer will be ranked based on a Qualification-points system. Racers! Keep this in mind: The following Qualifying-points system does not have throw-outs. While your best two rounds rank your finishing position in the field, ties are settled by using all rounds depending on how far the tie goes between racers. Random Tech Spot Checking:

Racers will be spot checked at the Race Directors discretion. Don’t get upset if we randomly pull your car to have a look. We will inspect your motor and batteries to make sure everything is on the up and up. Motors will be randomly checked on a motor checker to see if extra VOODOO magic has been performed.
