The E-buggy Class was the one that was closest to the team. The Canadian team had been given the job by the factory to race & test this new Proto-type car. During qualifying the team did not let the factory down. Wright won Round 1, Bortolotti won round 2, and Birku took round 3! Round 4 went to Bortolotti giving him the Top Qualifying position! The mains would see the 3 Tamiya’s lined up 1,2,3! The drivers faced 3 ten minute long mains throughout the day, with the winner taking the National title. In A1 Bortolotti found his closest competition from his teammate Abiye, who after 10 minutes chased him down and closed the gap to less than a second! With less than a minute to go, Birku passed Bortolotti and went into the lead! Bortolotti kept his cool and made a last lap pass to take round 1 victory! A2 was another close battle with Birku fighting hard again to close the gap in the opening minutes of the race. This time Birku got by and pulled out a 4 second gap over Bortolotti and winning A2! A3 was again a close battle with the three Tamiya TRF801Xe cars running 1,2,3! Bortolotti and Birku again battled for the win and at the end of the 10min race, Bortolotti won by less than a second!

Congratulations to the new 1/8th scale Electric Buggy National Champion Steve Bortolotti! Abiye Birku 2nd in the Nation. Tom Wright 4th in the Nation!

Nitro Buggy : Tamiya drivers Houben, Birku, and Bortolotti were all looking to end the 2010 season on a high note. Houben, and Birku showed from the start of round 1 that they were going to be at the top of the leader board! Both drivers took two rounds of qualifying each and it was going to come down to the final round of qualifying for TQ honours! In the final round it was Abiye Birku who would take the win and have is TRF801x buggy in the number 1 starting spot for the 45min A main! Gareth Houben lining up in the second position and after a tough day of qualifying Bortolotti would start in the 7th position.

The A main buggy was the 2nd last race to be run on Sunday and the track was in great shape with a dark grey racing line formed by the rubber being laid down all weekend. As in all racing, Tire choice can be the make or break on-track performance. The race started with a big crash in the 1st couple of turns. Gareth found himself in the last position, Steve was mid pack and Abiye running in 2nd chasing down the leader. Steve quickly noticed that he had chosen the wrong tire and the car wasn't working that great, but held strong and adjusted his driving for the long 45min race coming across the line in the 5th position. Gareth found him self slowly working is way up the field till he reached the 3rd position in the closing minutes where he finished. Abiye took the lead around the 15min mark and battled for the remaining 30mins with another car for the win. Around the 25min point the right rear tire separated causing him to really hang on. Wheeling his Tamiya Buggy like know other he held off the position right up until the 40min mark when he lost the lead and crossed the line a few corners back in 2nd.
Finishing order: Abiye 2nd, Gareth 3rd, Steve 5th

After the points were totalled Abiye was awarded the 1st Runner up in the Nation! Congratulations to Mr. Birku for his podium finish!

Nitro Truggy : Qualifying went great for both Gareth and Tom. After qualifying Tamiya again held the Top Qualifying Position with Tom in the 4th position.
The race was a tough battle, Gareth held the 1st place till he had a screw in the steer link come loose and then finally out. He rejoined many laps down and tried to move up the order. He finished in the 10th position.
Tom had a good start, running in the top 5 for the 1st few pit stops, when a corner marshal put a car out in a his way, after knocking the steering ball cap off. Steve ran over and tried to get it back on. Tom lost 3 laps, but was glad to be running again and slowly moved up the order and around the 30min mark reached the 4th spot, but had some issues in the closing minutes and finished 8th. Tom finished 8th and Gareth 10th

After the points were totalled Gareth was awarded the 1st Runner up in the Nation! Congratulations to Mr. Houben for his podium finish!
